Looking for a quick beauty fix for those mornings when you’ve only got five minutes to spare? Our simple three-step makeup routine has you covered!
Step 1: Prep your skin
As soon as you roll out of bed, your first instinct should be to cleanse your face.
Eliminating impurities and removing excess oil is crucial to ensuring your foundation goes on smoothly, so don’t skip this step.
If you suffer from acne or recurring blemishes, opt for a refreshing gel cleanser enriched with spot-fighting actives, such as salicylic acid. Apply your day cream (ideally one featuring SPF25) and let it sink in before heading on to step 2 - nobody wants streaky foundation.
Step 2: A flawless base
Next, it’s time to prep your skin for foundation. A mattifying primer will help to smooth out pores and imperfections, creating a smooth base for your makeup. If your foundation has a liquid or gel texture, dab small dots of product on your cheeks, face and chin before blending out with a sponge for a quick, even finish.
Step 3: Spot correction
If you struggle with redness or dark circles, apply your concealer on top of your foundation to target specific problem areas. To achieve a flawless finish, blend out with your ring or little finger, or use a brush to disguise any blemishes or spots. Choose a cream concealer with a waxy finish that won’t flake or look cakey toward the end of the day.
Step 4: Powder, powder
Finally, set your face with a powder to ensure your makeup stays in place all day. Pressed powders are great for targeting specific areas prone to oiliness or greasiness, while mineral powders can be dusted all over to make sure your foundation won’t budge. Don’t skip this step if you’re looking to avoid touchups, or opt for a pressed powder format that offers all-day coverage that won’t slip and slide. A slick of lipstick and a few swipes of mascara, and there you go - five-minute flawless!
